GO2 was tasked with creating a workbook to help Sherwin-Williams “restore” some locations that weren’t performing well. This book would help them to prepare a plan that will drive growth, while assisting the store in achieving sales and profit goals. With this tool, managers could develop a dynamic plan that will lead to store success through account growth, sustainable sales growth, and achieved profitability.
When I began designing this workbook, I knew I wanted it to be colorful and fun, to produce a positive and inspiring vibe for the user. The team didn’t want this book to be intimidating or something employees were reluctant to participate in. I used icons to provide some graphic interest to the book so it was more approachable/professional. Content is spread out and the sections, or steps, are segregated by color. This helps the user navigate through the book easily by focusing on the instructions for each specific step while not feeling overwhelmed. I also made sure there was a generous amount of room for written answers, because handwriting size varies from person to person, and we didn’t want it to feel cramped. These books were a huge success and very well received throughout the company.
